The Integrated Approach

At the Lady Grey Arts Academy an integration of the four arts are strived for. Thus, in a typical production, workshopped by the learners and teachers, ballet would combine with choral singing, fine art with physical theatre, and other such combinations. Such productions make for exciting viewing and serve the further purpose of creating artists with a multi-disciplinary training.
The arts are also integrated into academic subjects. It has been found that learners who do one or more art form, tend to excel more in academic subjects than their counterparts who follow a straight academic curriculum. The arts are now used as tools in classrooms to create a multi-sensory learning experience. Typical examples would be to have an interview with Lady Macbeth as part of literature study. Similarly, interviews with historical characters in history or counterpoint as an example of mathematical concepts.
